Baby Looney Tunes Volume 4: Tooth Fairy Tales
The Show
Despite my hatred for changing the Looney Tunes characters around, I have to admit that I am not opposed to Baby Looney Tunes. The older cartoons do have a certain level of violence and more adult-oriented humor that would be inappropriate for very young tykes. Volume 4: Tooth Fairy Tales is innocent enough and definitely better than the majority of mind-numbing garbage your kids could be watching.
There’s not much to Baby Looney Tunes. Basically the characters have been de-aged down to baby and toddler status and participate in mini-adventures and tales with some sort of moral to teach your kids. It’s like any other semi-educational show that you can put on and let them zone out to. Bright colors, happy music, so-cute-it’ll-make-you-puke character design–Baby Looney Tunes has all the makings of a show that will allow parents to catch a breather while their kids are mesmerized by baby characters. Some of the plots in Volume 4 include: a Mother’s Day episode; Bugs losing a tooth; Taz losing his spinning ability after eating too much junk food; fun on a snow day; and more. Many episodes also have sing-a-longs to mix it up.
The set contains 8 episodes: “A Lot Like Lola,” “Mother’s Day Madness,” “Takers Keepers,” “To Tell The Tooth,” “Spinout,” “Snow Day,” “Shadow of a Doubt,” and “Christmas in July.”
The DVD
The video is presented in 1.33:1 Full Frame. Although compression artifacts pop up, the colors are very pleasing to the eye and the print itself is clean. I can honestly say I don’t think your children will have a problem with it.
The audio is offered in English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo with English Closed Captions. There aren’t any moments of flashy audio, but the various elements are balanced and clear.
The Extras
No special features are offered.
Final Thoughts
Baby Looney Tunes is a great substitute for kids who are too young to experience the real deal. It is near-sickeningly cute, but if it can get your kids to keep quiet for a little bit, isn’t that worth it? – Jeff Ritchie
