Tweety’s High-Flying Adventure
Release Date: 9/18/07
The Film
I’m not sure where to start with Tweety’s High-Flying Adventure. I was never a huge Looney Tunes fan, however, I was always able to take in a little bit of Tweety and Sylvester action, albeit in short spurts. In this 2000 straight to video feature, the 70-minute runtime proved to be about 65-minutes long. Perhaps if the feature was broken down into smaller shorts, it could have been palatable. But really, in the present form, many of the already stale jokes fell even flatter in its long form.
Essentially a spoof on Around the World in Eighty Days, Tweety’s High-Flying Adventure sends our little yellow hero around the world in order to prove Colonel Rimfire wrong in his assumption that cats are the smartest animals around. On a race around the world, Tweety has to outsmart a bunch of cats, including Sylvester, who will not allow for the other cats to eat Tweety first. Along the way, Tweety also manages to run into Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, and the Tasmanian Devil. Overall, this is just an overextended short that overstays its welcome by far too many minutes.
The DVD
The main menu is pretty plain with silence and static backgrounds. Submenus are treated similarly.
The video is offered in 1.33:1 Fullscreen Format. The colors are relatively bright with minimal artifacting and haloing issues. Unfortunately, the artistic direction of this film can’t penalize the video transfer quality.
The audio is offered in English Dolby Digital 5.1 and French Dolby Digital 2.0. The sound is adequate and will do just fine with the music, dialogue, and sound effects. Subtitles are available in English.
The Extras
None.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Tweety’s High-Flying Adventure is a forgettable piece of Looney Tunes cinema that simply misfires at any chance it gets. The usual shticks are infused into the movie, but overall, it’s nothing special at all.
