Crime Watch: Fall Is Here
It’s fall, and the crime series of summer have been packed away in moth balls, or something. Anyhow, here’s the latest recaps on crime series. And by recap, I mean, we’re gonna say what happened, so, don’t be surprised at the spoilers for crying out loud….
DAMAGES ….Gotta mention this show as it wraps up the season. Between Glenn Close, Ted Danson, and Zeljko Ivanek, I don’t know which acting to point to as more awesome. Can you say awesome and not sound like a teenager? Anyhow, I do stand in awe. In fact, I was so distraught over poor Ray’s (Ivanek) episodes involving his tragic life, that I couldn’t even focus on Art (Danson) and Patty (Close). Given what happened in the last episode, as in, Ray offed himself, we can now return to the clash of the titans. Oh, yeah, we might find out who killed David too…can we give the killer an award? Speaking of awards, if Close, and probably Danson and Ivanek don’t get Emmy nominations, and probably awards, well, chalk it up to the fact not a lot of people are watching this series. I don’t think it should be picked up- only because it had a really cool self-contained situation, not always a coherent one, but a well-acted one, and if you get rid of Forbisher….Eh, I don’t know, I just don’t dig this as an open-ended series. Be brave, guys, be British, wrap it up.
WITHOUT A TRACE….If you ever get caught up in the fact that WAT has an excellent cast of cool character and forget that Jack Malone is really the biggest badass of the group, the season opener reminded you when Jack threw down a few times. I love when he does that. The story was about an overweight girl victimized by some guys and then accidentally killed by her supportive dad. Ironic, huh? My complaint: the girl wasn’t really that overweight. I mean, I did think ‘Hey, they got a normal size girl in the role…" - then they had it be she was this low-esteem "fat" girl. Shows you the difference between the real world and the tv world.
CRIMINAL INTENT: In case you forgot, CI is now on USA in first-run eps. What day? I have no idea, but I caught it the first time it aired this season. It was an interesting case continuing with last year’s emphasis on personal stories….The death of Eames late husband (dead nine years) came front and center when a witness to the case was killed, or something, I don’t really know. But Kathryn Erbe got to shine a little even if she was a little more weepy than one would have thought Eames would be. Speaking of weight, name one actress on TV who would be allowed to bulk up the way Vincent D’Onofrio did and not catch hell for it? It’s probably character stuff, he’s eating through his mom’s death or what have you…whatever.
SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT: In case you forgot, I don’t like this show. The first episode, for some god knows what reason, through a standard issue split personality story at us with Tony-winner Cynthia Nixon. She’s a good actress, the part was, well, "special." A shocking twist: she wasn’t really a multiple….oooh, ahhh. Melissa Joan Hart appeared recently as a teacher doin’ it with a student. Didn’t watch the episode. Why would I? Oh, Adam Beach is a regular now and Kragen was gone for like, a day, and Munch had to take over. Point being, what?
CSI: Sara is alive, eventually leaving, people who write Grissom fan fic can breath easy, and, one would hope, get over themselves with all the "they’re just so Wrong together…"
BOSTON LEGAL …has added a ton of characters I don’t give a bleep about, one is played by Saffron Burrows, another by John Laroquette
NUMB3RS,….Hey, Peter Macnichol has a beard now. Looks pretty good. Dylan Bruno’s Colby is back with his cheesy name. Turns out the whole traitor thing was just a cover for some FBI thing. Dianne Farr’s Megan is back too. The latest case involved….math. Sometimes, I wonder why they let Rob Morrow get away with all that squinting and yelling stuff. Charlie is writing a book about math and friendship.
LIFE….this new show is mad cool. Charlie Crews is a weird dude and he solves murders.
That’s all for now. But crime keeps on coming, so don’t worry.
