Heroes: Kindred
We’re back in Ireland, and Peter is being bribed into helping the hoodlums on a job so that he can get the box with all of his information from them. They want Peter to distract the guards while they rob an armored car. Peter reads the mind of a guy from "Star Trek: Enterprise" (named Will here) who plans to take the money for himself.
Alejandro and Maya are still in Mexico. He tries to help by stealing a car. Needless to say, this idea doesn’t work out so well and next thing you know, they are being chased by authorities.
So the writers have made it up to the fans who didn’t buy into the "he’s not dead yet… he’s getting better!" status of D.L. at the end of last season by… killing him off? Well, at least he died taking Linderman (apparently) with him. Niki and Micah are mourning him at his grave, then she prepares him to go to New Orleans to live with relatives while she gets help for her problems.
Sylar is… wait, Sylar?… relaxing on a beach. He meets a woman lounging next to him who goes by Candice. Ah-ha. Miss Shapeshifter is back again (and it’s very easy to explain why she’s someone else as Missy Peregrym is on "Reaper" now). Candice apparently dragged Sylar’s near-lifeless body and got him eight surgeries. He doesn’t understand and she explains how this is all an illusion. He demands to know where he really is, and then screams in agony as he’s apparently in some kind of abandoned shed somewhere.
At chez Bennet, Claire’s dad apologizes for being angry at her for asking questions. He tells her that questions are alright as long as they are in their home. Claire asks what will happen if they are found out and Noah tells her that they will have to go deeper into hiding, worst case scenario.
At school, Claire calls West out on spying on her and explains away the toe mishap as a pedicure. She’s none too pleased with his behavior and leaves in a huff.
At Matt and Suresh’s apartment, Suresh enters without announcing himself and startles Matt. He tells Matt that the Company is keeping him in New York for the time being and he can watch over Molly easier that way. Matt tells him about Molly’s nightmares and so forth. Molly is woken up and runs into Suresh’s arms.
Ando is working in a lonely office, and after being yelled at by his boss, and finds the old samurai sword. On the hilt it says "Ando open." In it, he finds a message from Hiro from the past. We are brought up to the last episode, with Kensei healing. Hiro demonstrates it to Kensei, who is freaked out by it.
Peter is trying to practice his powers, but isn’t getting too far. Caitlin comforts him about this and the upcoming heist.
Alejandro has been caught and is being led to jail.
In class, West asks the teacher about lizards again (from last week) and says he thinks he met a lizard girl. Claire is really pissed now, and gets up to leave.
Hiro finds Kensei again and demonstrates his powers. Kensei starts to like the idea of powers. Hiro takes them to the setting of one of his most famous battles, the 90 Hungry Ronin. Ruh-roh. Here come 90 some-odd Ronin for Kensei. Hiro transports himself out of there.
West follows Claire and asks her what’s the deal. She finally confesses all of her fears as to how she’s a freak and if she lets people know she will be tested in a lab. West promptly orders her to shut up and flies her away with him.
The heist is on. Peter distracts the guards. All is going as planned until one of them hits an alarm. Shooting commences, but Peter floats the armored car with his mind to block the guards. Needless to say, this surprises him.
Suresh comes upon Midas man in Isaac’s old apartment, with a group of folks going through his old paintings. Suresh is told of Isaac’s death (this never came up with him before?). Midas man says that the Company is going to cater to his every need.
Hiro and the swordsmith’s daughter, Yaeko are waiting for Kensei. They are close to sharing a romantic moment when Kensei arrives, the conquering hero, and they hug.
Niki and Micah share a tearful goodbye as she drops him off at the relatives’ house in New Orleans. She wants him to not use his powers, but he is non-commital. They walk up to the front of the house and it’s Uhura herself, Nichelle Nichols at the door. I guess this show will have at least one "Star Trek" actor on at all times.
Maya shows up at the jail trying to bail out her brother. Then she confesses that she is the wanted woman on the poster with Alejandro and next thing you know, Alejandro hears her from jail, and notices his cell-mate’s eyes filled with black oil/goo. He calls out, and Maya runs to meet him, which implies that the guards are in no position to chase her. He takes the black oil/goo from her eyelids and they make their escape before the guards can catch them. They also take Alejandro’s cell-mate with them since he has a car nearby, and make a quick getaway.
Back in Ireland, as the gang celebrates their successful heist, Will makes a move towards taking the cash. Peter tries to stop him but gets shot. A moment later, Will goes flying and is being held against the wall by Peter’s mind. Then a bullet pops out of his chest. Caitlin demands that Peter let go of Will and he does.
17th century. Hiro writes his scroll and puts it in the sword’s hilt, and says his good-byes to Kensei, who doesn’t want him to leave. Hiro prepares to go and starts to do his "squinting" thing to transport, then thinks better of it and decides to stay longer.
Sylar is still stuck in that shed and his powers aren’t working for him. He tries to move a coffee mug but no go. He’s angry but Candice won’t hear any of it. She tries to seduce Sylar by taking on different forms. Sylar goes to kiss her but instead smashes her in the head with the mug. He’s starting with a clean slate, and he’s going to take her powers first. After doing the brain thing he does (still unclear on this point, but not sure if I want to know), we kinda sorta see her real form as an overweight woman, as was heavily hinted-at all last season. Sylar tries her powers, but apparently he also lost the power to take powers, at least for now. Sylar is very pissed at this, as you can imagine.
Caitlin is tattooing the family crest onto Peter’s arm. Her brother Ricky shows up and hands Peter the box with all of his information to thank him for stopping Will. Peter then discusses the implications of opening the box with Caitlin. Does he want his old life or does he want to continue this new one? The two of them cut to the chase and make out, while his tattoo turns into the Linderman/Kensei (I’ll just call it the "godsend") symbol.
Claire and West have ditched school for the beach. They debate whose power is cooler then they start with the making out themselves. But then she sees the familiar marks on his neck that Matt and others have sported after encounters with her dad. West tells her about an encounter with a bad man, who wanted to trap him like an animal… a man with horn-rimmed glasses. (Yikes.)
Midas man has another job for Suresh. Then he takes a call and Suresh calls Noah. Midas man’s call is from Niki who asks if he is sure he can cure her. Midas man reminds her that they will want something from her in return. At the same time, Suresh tells Noah that Isaac’s paintings are being moved. Suresh starts to go through them. One painting catches his eye and he sends a picture of it to Noah. Noah looks at his e-mail and sees a series of photos, the first being the one showing Kaito’s death. The last painting? It shows Noah’s apparent death by bullet wound to the eye as Claire looks on, kissing someone. He sees the real Claire and they say goodnight to each other.
The plot thickens indeed…
