6 Ways To Shakes The Dunder Mifflin Blues

Do you miss The Office? If so, we’ve got a few viewing techniques that can help you fight the withdrawals. You’ll need access to the show so far- Seasons 1-4. You can find the first three on dvd (or Netflix online) and most of Season 4 is on hulu.com. Got your episodes on hand? Here’s a way to pep up those repeats.

TRACK CREED

My brother came up with this one. Go back through the seasons and focus on Creed, perhaps the most eccentric of all Office workers. His varied repetoire includes playing in a rock band, selling fake ID’s and being homeless. Great creed episodes include "Gay Witch Hunt" in Season 3, where he has a great line about what might have happened at Woodstock and his ultimate episode

"Product Recall" where we finally see what his job is (when he does it.). Check out his thoughts on Jan’s "surgery" in Season 3’s "Women Appreciation". He also has a good Season 1 episode where he almost gets fired. Man, can you imagine The Office without Creed? Check out his blog at NBC, too.

TRACK JAM

You know what we mean by Jam, right? Jim + Pam? I didn’t come up with it, but it works as a short hand. If you haven’t seen Season 1, you might be surprised by how blatant Jim’s "crush" is. "Basketball" for example, shows Jim showing off for her. Then there’s Season 2’s Casino Night where there’s - the kiss…And Season 3’s Beach Games and The Job (especially Part 2.) But, also don’t overlook Christmas Party (Season 2) where Jim comes thisclose to giving Pam a heartfelt note or The Negotiation where Roy almost kicks Jim’s as$ when the kiss becomes known. Ah, Jam, how sweet you are.

COUNT "THAT"S WHAT SHE SAID"

You can’t imagine a joke so beaten to death still be funny, but somehow, this one-liner often used by Michael at the worst possible times, remains just that. Go back the years and track all the gringe-inducing moments where Michael employs this line. There’s even one episode, I forget which one, where Jim tries to bet him he can’t stop saying it - and he can’t! Maybe the best is "Cocktails" where Jan can’t help but say it, too.

COUNT FIGHT SEQUENCES INVOLVING DWIGHT

Dwight throws down, don’t forget it. There’s the bat episode, the pepper spraying in ‘The Negotiation’ ; Season 1’s ‘The Fight”; the sumo wrestling in ‘Beach Games’; you might even count when he throws Michael out of the reception hall in ‘Phylllis’ Wedding’….There’s almost no end to the times Dwight gets down and dirty with opponents human and otherwise- Don’t forget ‘Initiation’ where Ryan gets some on-the-job-training involving Schrute Beet Farm. Check out these episodes with ‘Kung Fu Fighting’ going through your head for extra fun.

WATCH RESTAURANT and PARTY EPISODES

Michael Scott tells us Chili’s is where busines gets done. And, true, Chili’s figures prominently in two episodes- ‘The Dundies’ and ‘The Client’ in Season 2. You can also catch ‘A Benihana Christmas’ where the restaurant is obvious and Women’s Appreciation where, well, they eat at a mall, I’m not sure the place. And has any office had this many parties in three and a quarter years? There’s two Christmas parties, Jim’s barbecue (somewhere in Season 2), a party for Oscar or is it Dwight in ‘The Return’, there’s The Booze Cruise, and The Cocktail Party and the big fun of ‘Phyllis’ Wedding,’ and ‘Diwali’.

WATCH THE BRITISH VERSION

If you haven’t checked out the BBC original starring Ricky Gervais, get it. It’s a little cruder, since there’s no censoring over there, but it’s also very funny, and you can compare and contrast Pam and Jim with Dawn and Tim.
