Well, the season is more or less at an end, and what did we learn? Let’s see, shall we?

We learned that stupid Suresh didn’t exactly help things very much this season. He was greeted by Sylar and Maya who brought him up to speed and they went to the lab with Molly. They arrive at Isaac’s old apartment and Suresh takes Sylar’s blood to see what strain of the virus he has. Meanwhile, Maya decides she’s not too fond of Sylar after all, seeing as he’s acting like a power-mad (powerless) thug. All this time, we learn that the Company has them on surveillance.

Mrs. Petrelli explains how she thought the only way to save humanity was to destroy it but she has since changed her mind (not buying it). She sends Matt and Nathan to stop Peter at Primatech in Odessa, but warns them that they may have to kill him with a bullet in the head.

We learn that Peter and Hiro’s showdown was pretty cool for about a minute there, but that’s it. Hiro warns Peter about Kensei/Adam, but Peter gets the jump on him with his Palpatine-hands. Adam takes his sword back from Hiro. Peter then lets loose with his powers, taking down guards before they get to the vault where the virus is held. Adam convinces him to open the vault with his mind, because everyone, including Caitlin (remember her, stuck in the future?) needs him. Nathan and Matt arrive having flown together (Matt, in the best line of the night, wants them to never bring that up again). Hiro sees Nathan, and says "Flying Man!" (second best line of the night, never get tired of that).

Claire talks to her mother, but she still plans to expose the truth. Then she more or less breaks up with West, who is the saddest flying man since Superman at the end of the first movie.

Bob is angry at Elle over her actions with Claire and Elle starts to dig into some things in reaction. She finds Noah in his room and tells him what happened. He tells her what Bob did when she was younger, pushing her powers beyond the limit to test them for the Company. Then Bob finds Noah and is panicking over what Elle will expose about them. She goes on to her dad’s computer and sees Sylar in Isaac’s apartment.

Micah tells his mother about Monica, and she tells him about Suresh’s plan to heal her. Niki drives Micah to wear Monica is being held. Micah is tracking Monica’s cell phone. Micah is even telling red lights to change green.

Back in California, Noah arrives and tells Claire that we learn that he made a deal that will keep them safe. To say that she is shocked is an understatement.

Maya talks to Molly about Alejandro and she (and we) learn that he is most definitely dead since Molly can’t find him. Now Maya really doesn’t like Sylar. Sylar has the same strain of the virus as Niki, then Maya rages at him, so he shoots her just where Isaac fell dead.

Peter tries to open the vault some more when Hiro arrives to stop him. Peter throws him against the wall. He throws Matt against the wall, saying he is on the wrong side. Then Nathan asks if he is on the wrong side as well. Hiro and Adam are teleported into the vault. Adam hold his sword to Hiro’s throat. He explains his plan to wipe away everyone he can with the virus, and those left will make him their hero. Nathan reminds Peter how much he loves him. Hiro knows Adam must die and teleports the two of them, but Adam drops the virus. Peter catches it at the last millisecond. He, Matt and Nathan regroup and Peter destroys the virus. We learn that all this time, they too are on surveillance. Nathan plans to get everything out in the open with a press conference.

Suresh injects Maya and the bullet leaves her body. Elle arrives and she and Sylar have a shoot-out. She goes Palpatine on him and blows him through the back door. Suresh remembers that Niki is next to be saved.

Niki and Micah arrive at Monica’s location. One of Monica’s gang member captors lights Micah’s comic book on fire. Niki shows up and crashes into one of their vans and beats on a gang member. He tells her where Monica is. Niki tells Micah to call 911. A wooden plank falls and Niki pushes Monica out of the way, but not before getting trapped. Monica runs outside to Micah and the building explodes with Niki in it. Well, we learned that NBC promos aren’t always misleading.

Ando finds Hiro at work. He tells Ando that Adam won’t hurt anyone again. Cut to Ando in a casket buried alive. That Hiro is hard-core.

Elle returns as Maya comes to. Suresh tells her that she is a hero and she seems like she could get used to that idea.

At Nathan’s press conference, he says… "Good afternoon. Most of you have no idea who I am. My name is Nathan Petrelli, and I was elected to Congress. Seems like a long time ago. I lost my position. I lost my brother. I lost my family. And I’m sad to say I lost my way. But while I was gone, I was able to see the world through newly humbled eyes. Witnessed amazing things. Seeing ordinary people each day trying their best to be heroes. These ordinary people, like you, like me, are capable of extraordinary things. You wouldn’t believe how extraordinary. But there are other people, organizations who don’t want you to know the truth. I myself kept secrets. But last year, something incredible happened to me. And it changed my life. At first, I was afraid. But I’m not afraid anymore. I’m here to tell you the truth. I have the abilit–" A shot rings out. Nathan is dead. Wow. Mrs. Petrelli is watching… she says it was unavoidable now that Pandora’s box is open. End of Volume 2.

Start of Volume 3. Sylar lying in an alley. He uses his mind to get a tin can to fly to his hand. Uh-oh.

All in all, not as good as season 1, but a (marginally) better season finale. At least it ends strong.

So what did we learn this go-round? Well, we learned that Noah is definitely alive, thanks to Suresh giving him Claire’s blood, the first good thing he did all season. Foolish Suresh still likes the Company but Noah points out to him how there would be no virus if not for the Company. He soon finds a cure for Niki, but he wants to rid the world of the virus as well.

Meanwhile, Niki returns to Micah and breaks the news about her virus. Micah’s troublemaking cousin has taken his backpack with D.L.’s medal and comic books, which in turn was stolen. He and Monica try to take it back from the gang who stole it. However, once Monica arrives to their location, she is discovered and thrown into a van, just as Niki learns of the cure by phone. So we learned that Monica’s powers didn’t amount to all that much, and Niki might not die.

Bob gives the fake remains of Noah to his family (being watched by Elle), and Claire is enraged by what happens. They are planning to leave town. Claire tells West that she wants the Haitian to erase all memory of Noah from her mind. When she spreads her father’s fake ashes in the ocean, she sees Elle in a car and walks over to confront her. She tells her that she is going to tell the whole world the truth. So we learned that Elle and Claire are two of the best characters on the show right now.

Sylar convinces Maya that she doesn’t need Alejandro, and she soon learns to control her powers alone. Alejandro tells her that Sylar killed his mother, which he cops to, calling it an accident, getting on Maya’s good side. That night, Sylar kills Alejandro (behind Maya’s back) and the two of them head to New York. So we learned that Alejandro didn’t really serve too much of a purpose.

Hiro and Ando discover the truth about Adam/Kensei, and go back to 1977 when Adam tried to spread the virus everywhere, before he is captured. Victoria, a member of the Company who weaponized the virus, tells Hiro’s father Kaito to destroy the virus but he refuses. Victoria quits. So we learned a lot there.

Peter and Adam find Victoria in the present. Peter visits her on his own, and he tells her about what he saw in the future. She begins to tell him where to find the virus. Then Victoria sees Adam and shoots the both of them - as she prepares to shoot Adam in the head (which would kill him - something else we learned), Peter knocks her out. They tie her up and Victoria appeals to Peter to stop working with Adam. Peter reads her mind and finds out the location of the virus. When she is freed by Adam, she tries to shoot Peter, so Adam kills her, and unbeknownst to Peter, leaves behind his Linderman/Kensei symbol. The two of them arrive at the location of the virus, Noah’s old paper company, when Hiro stops time - only Peter isn’t stopped. The two of them run at each other.

And at this point, I am dying for the (probable) season finale.

What did we learn this week? Well, we learned a lot about Hiro who teleported himself to the past during his father’s funeral to rescue him. He even went back to his mother’s funeral where we met little Hiro, who wasn’t much different from present Hiro. Hiro decided it was time to grow up and sees his father die, but also sees the killer by stopping time: it’s Adam! Hiro returns to the present to give his father’s eulogy.

We learned that Matt is getting more and more interesting in every episode, especially with the discovery of his ability to control people’s minds. He qucikly gave into the temptation to use it for personal gain.

We learned how far Noah is willing to go to protect his daughter, who didn’t want any protection. We also learned that he should turn off his computer after looking at Isaac’s paintings, because Claire saw the one where Noah was lying on the ground looking dead as Claire and West look on. She was kidnapped by Bob so that her blood could cure Molly (Claire eventually agreed to it), and Noah formed an alliance with West to rescue her. They kidnapped Elle (Suresh’s new partner), and they made an exchange with Bob and Suresh (whom we learned is still the dumbest character on this show, especially for all his book-learnin’ - okay, maybe we pretty much already knew that). We also learned that Noah should have found a way to keep Elle from using her powers until well after the exchange because she blasted West and Claire out of the sky (this after he had kept Elle’s feet in a bucket of water to neutralize her). Claire broke the fall but not fast enough to keep Noah from shooting Elle in the arm, then threatening to kill Bob. Suresh in a panic shot Noah in the eye (just like in two paintings). Claire and her mother mourn Noah as Suresh contemplates his actions, and Elle nurses her wound. Meanwhile, Noah’s lying in a hospital bed and his eye suddenly regenerates, and he wakes up with a start.

Another improvement for this season, only two to go before the fall/season finale.

So what happened in between season 1 and 2? We finally find out, and what did we learn? That much of what we’ve seen so far this season wasn’t all that pertinent.

Turns out Peter and Nathan both blew up but Peter regenerated and took his now-severely-burned brother to the hospital. Then Bob and daughter Elle take Peter into their custody. Peter is poked and prodded, mostly by Elle (who has a crush on him, and we’re reminded once again what an extraordinary actress Kristen Bell is), and told that he will be cured. But he’s next door to none other than Kensei, now known as Adam, who convinces him to break out, telling him that his blood can heal Nathan. Peter decides to stop taking the Company medication and phases through the walls. Meanwhile, Nathan tells his wife the truth but Mama Petrelli tells her that he’s gone mad, and it’s a Petrelli thing, and she needs to get out fast (which she does). Peter and Adam go to the hospital and Adam’s blood does indeed heal Nathan. Elle and the Haitian find the two of them, and some real action ensues. The Haitian (being a long-time double agent) corners Peter and puts him into the giant container we saw him in in the season premiere, and wipes his memory.

Turns out D.L. didn’t die from his gunshot wound at all (I kinda think that would have made more sense, but whatevs). Bob shows up here too, offering to "cure" Niki. Before Niki takes his offer, she stops taking her meds and takes on a new/old, kinda slutty personality. She takes off, and D.L. finally tracks her down in a club. It looks like they’re home free when Niki’s personality’s date caps D.L. in the chest.

Turns out Maya and Alejandro discovered their power at his wedding, where all the attendees were inadvertently killed by her (though, technically, she wasn’t a big fan of his bride). After Maya becomes a nun, Alejandro convinces her to run away.

Fast-forward to today where Peter’s memory finally comes back to him. Adam asks, "Shall we save the world?"

As Buffy would say, "What’s the plural for apocalypse?"

Full episode - http://video.aol.com/partner/hulu/heroes-the-line/MR7_M0RdEPiy-4n3Riz__3l1naRVI5hQ
Or
http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/video/episodes.shtml

I’m going to do yet another take on a recap. Let us know here at NZone what kind of recap you like best.

I like to look at shows like Heroes and Lost and say, what did we learn? Isn’t that the main reason we tune in? And the main reason there has been a backlash in the past year or so against both shows at times… when we don’t really get much out of it at the end of 45 minutes to an hour (depending if you Tivo/watch online or watch live)? So, what did we learn 6 weeks in to a season that many fans have, at this point, grown disappointed with?

This episode, we found out that the bad guy Noah we remember from early in the series isn’t far gone after all. Noah paid a visit to an old associate in Russia named Ivan (so that’s what he was doing there) in order to get his hands on Isaac’s remaining paintings (I just hope we won’t be dealing with Isaac’s paintings 4 seasons in - that’s one hell of a prolific artist otherwise). Noah and the Haitian tortured the guy, wiped away the memories of how he met his wife… until Noah got what he wanted - paintings he doesn’t understand very much. Then, to make sure the Company didn’t track him, he mercilessly killed Ivan and did his best to erase his tracks. Now that’s what the kids call “gangsta.” And it’s far more interesting than Sylar 2.0.

Yes, Sylar was here and didn’t do much other than none-too-subtly threaten to kill the Wonder Twins and take their powers… but he didn’t make his move yet. Yawn.

Suresh helped out Micah’s cousin Monica with the copycat powers and this too was yawn worthy. Not sure when we will see her again, nor what the whole point of all this was yet, other than that Suresh (eventually after much protest) gives in to Bob and the Company by giving Monica their “cure” in vaccine form. Noah drops Monica off at home and tells her that the Company is there for her, and Suresh has a new partner, Niki (”one of them, one of us,” remember?).

Didn’t learn much so far. Let’s forge ahead, shall we?

Ando is learning more of Hiro’s trip to the past. He gets double-crossed by Kensei, who is jealous over his romance with the swordsmith’s daughter, Yaeko. The actor formerly known as Sark in bad guy mode, I can get into that. There’s something we learned.

Claire is apparently being tempted into the dark side by West. They use their powers to convince a drunk cheerleading captain that she saw a flying man pick Claire up and drop her to her death. Claire doesn’t like the whole charade after the fact but it gets her on the cheerleading squad. So “using your powers for selfish/evil purposes” definitely seems to be the theme this season. So we kinda learned that, though we sort of knew it already.

Thankfully, having seen the following episode, I know that things pick up… maybe, not significantly but they do. And it all starts with Peter and Caitlin in Montreal. They enter the building from the painting and find a note from some guy named “Adam” who has been mentioned here and there in passing, who says they must fight the Company. This being amnesia-Peter, he has no idea what any of this means. Caitlin is scared and hugs him, asking him to tell her what the future holds. And - ta-da! They’re in Times Square, not unlike Hiro the season before (except the green screen effects are really obvious). And the place is empty (someone saw the trailer for “I Am Legend.”) Peter sees a flier saying that the city has been evacuated, and it helpfully gives us the date, June 14, 2008. We have story-arc, people! See you next time.

This week, I’m going to try more of a summary with reactions for this recap (modeled slightly after last season’s story arc-based recaps).

After Molly’s mental encounter with the "nightmare man," who turned out to be Matt’s father, Matt went to confront him. Nathan joins him. At first, they have… well, not exactly a heart-warming reunion but Matt’s father doesn’t seem to be their man. The picture of Matt with the symbol over it is there. He is a target as well, it seems. Matt tells his father about his powers and his father tells him that their power becomes a lot more, and he has more to show him in a back room. Matt follows him. The door shuts behind them, and Nathan cannot open the door. Matt finds himself in jail being pushed around by a cop. Nathan opens the door to find himself on the now-familiar roof, on a snowy day with New York destroyed. Nathan then encounters the disgusting, bloody-faced version of himself. Matt meets his wife who tells him that he abandoned them and will abandon Molly too. She leaves and Matt is pushed away by the cop. Meanwhile, Nathan and his doppelganger start to fight. And Matt and the cop are fighting. Soon, it’s clear that they are fighting each other, until they finally snap out of it. Matt’s story arc is definitely one of the more interesting ones right now, while Nathan’s is a little more difficult to pin down but I am enjoying it so far.

Meanwhile, a woman named Elle (Kristen Bell), who can shoot electricity from her fingers, is looking all over for Peter. Peter, meanwhile, finally opens the box he was given with Caitlin and finds out his name and sees a few pictures, including one of Nathan, but not much rings a bell. He notices Caitlin’s paintings, and sees a blank canvas. Next thing, you know he enters Isaac’s trance, and starts painting. His painting shows two people, a man and woman, in Montreal. Elle soon finds Ricky’s (Caitlin’s brother’s) bar. Ricky claims not to know anything about Peter, despite the fact that Elle was told that Peter was at the bar. Ricky says he is sorry he couldn’t help her. Elle locks the door with her electro-fingers, says, "So am I," then blasts Ricky with an Emperor Palpatine-amount of electricity. Caitlin is called to the bar and finds her brother dead. Peter promises he will find them, as Elle is on the phone telling someone, hesitantly, that she killed someone in trying to find Peter… and the person on the other end of the phone is her dad. Nice to see Elle for the first time, but we don’t know too much about her, and hope to learn more soon. And dying to know who her dad is.

Suresh calls Noah, who is out of the country with the Haitian. He wants to know what to do with Molly and wants to take her to the Company. Noah warns against it, but Suresh has already decided. Later, Bob tells Suresh he made the right decision, but he needs him to do something for him, handing him a taser. Suddenly they hear something and Niki shows up out of nowhere, choking Bob and pushing him to the wall. Later, Niki apologizes to Bob and says she is better. When Bob leaves, Suresh tells her she needs to get out of there but Niki tells him that this is what she needs to get better.

Monica refuses to identify the robber at her restaurant for an officer. She goes home to find Micah playing the piano. She sits next to him and absent-mindedly starts playing the same as him… and she doesn’t play. Micah figures it out and demonstrates his power for her, as well. The two bond over their powers. Monica learns double dutch using hers. Still wondering when more will come of this story. Well, here’s a start: Suresh turns up on Monica’s doorstep.

Ando takes Hiro’s scrolls to a professional curator so they can be made clearer. In the past, Hiro and Kensei are training to rescue Yaeko’s father, the swordsmith. Kensei and Yaeko are growing closer as well. And here is where the curator stops for a moment, before he can work on them further. About time for Hiro’s journey to the past to come to an end if you ask me.

And that’s how this recap of a so-so episode ends. Thankfully I know it gets at least a little better. And I hope we will get a full season this year, what with the writers’ strike threatening to end it with volume 2, and not volume 3.

In other Heroes news, say goodbye, for now, to the Heroes: Origins spinoff, thanks to the strike.

And on that sad note, see you next time!

So Noah has seen Isaac’s painting foretelling of his death, a painting which shows Claire with a young guy. Noah wants to know from his wife if Claire is dating anyone. Then he asks her about it in person, but she plays it off like he’s being paranoid. He says that all he wants to do is meet any new boyfriends, to make sure that they’re not a threat to the family. Seeing as Noah met him while on the job, Claire isn’t about to rush into that.

Molly wakes up from yet another nightmare and Matt and Suresh walk in to check on her. Needless to say, these are becoming a regular occurence. Suresh sings her a lullaby.

Nathan is in Washington visiting his kids on the sly. They tell him that they don’t like the beard so he plans to lose it. He tells them about their grandmother being in the hospital.

Maya, Alejandro and their new friend Derek are traveling to the good old U-S-A from Mexico when they nearly hit a man lying in the middle of the road. They rush to see who it is, and a man says "Help me." It’s Sylar!

Micah is at his relatives’ house, including his rude cousin Damon and his teen cousin Monica, who works at a burger joint. They remind us of New Orleans and Katrina within minutes, because there’s nothing one likes better in a sci-fi/fantasy show than to be reminded of a depressing news story.

Matt is talking to Mrs. Petrelli in her hospital bed. She confesses to killing Hiro’s dad, Kaito, and says that she is so crazy, she attacked herself. Matt doesn’t buy it but her thoughts tell him to do it for the sake of all the "heroes," so the authorities won’t dig any deeper.

Claire is being approached about being a cheerleader at school, which she is still hesitant to do. West then talks to her and she accidentally reveals that the horn-rimmed glasses man he talked about is her dad. She doesn’t want much more to do with him but he’s persistent.

Nathan arrives at the hospital to see his mother. Matt tells him about her confession. Nathan agrees to help Matt investigate the killings and threats. Nathan visits his mother and she tells him that she wants him to be there for his family.

In the car, a recovering Sylar asks Maya where they’re headed. Maya shows him Suresh’s dad’s book. Sylar says that he can take them to him. She asks his name and he says "Gabriel Gray." She asks, "like the angel?" "Just like the angel," he responds, evilly. Wow, the cheese…

Monica is at her burger joint job, and mentions how much it sucks that they had that hurricane and all. Her manager bursts her bubble further telling her that she isn’t qualified to get a manager position.

Claire tells her dad about having to go to the library. She turns down his offer of a ride (since she got her car stolen). She takes off and meets West, then literally takes off. Her dad notices that she has disappeared, but doesn’t notice West flying off with her.

Matt is at Nathan’s apartment. Nathan shows him a picture of the original Company, including his mother, Kaito, and the rest. Matt then notices that one of them is his father. Cue shocking music or noise.

Monica is still at work, thinking about realizing her dreams. Yawn.

West and Claire are sitting on a ledge of sorts at night… turns out that the ledge is the Hollywood sign. He wants to test Claire’s trust in him by asking her to jump. After some hesitation, she does and he swoops down to catch her. Then he says, "I know you can heal, Claire, but I never want to see you hurt." And then they make out. I swear, each line of dialogue is cheesier than the last.

At Micah’s relatives’, Micah is fixing the TV with his powers. He then starts picking up pay-per-view wrestling, and he is instantly Damon’s hero. Monica comes home from work and disapproves of the cable-stealing. It’s clear she’s had a hard day, so Micah hugs her. He touches her back like he touched the TV to fix it, and says, "I just wish I could fix your dreams for you." Cheesy, yes, but at least it’s kind of original, and it came from a kid. Damon sees a wrestler pulling off a move where he grabs onto a pole and swings around and kicks another wrestler… and Monica sees it too. Really sees it. Hmm.

Molly and Suresh get home and Matt wants her to find his father for him. He hasn’t seen his father since he was young. Molly agrees to do this, but then sees the photo. The man in the photo is the man from her nightmares with the red eyes. Now we’re getting somewhere, plot-wise at least.

Nathan looks at an old picture of Peter. He promises the picture he will make things right. Then he looks up in the mirror and sees the scarred, deformed image of himself that he saw in the season premiere. He punches the mirror in anger.

West deposits Claire back home and they talk about keeping their cover stories consistent. They kiss good night.

Maya, Alejandro and company stop for gas. Derek picks up a newspaper under a piece of brick and sees Maya and Alejandro’s wanted poster and freaks out, telling Sylar. Sylar agrees to ditch them, holding onto the piece of brick. Moments later, Maya and Alejandro return to the car. Sylar tells them that they’ve been found out and Derek is calling the cops. The black oil/goo starts coming out of Maya’s eyes again and Alejandro uses his power to stop it. Sylar is intrigued by their powers and the three of them take off with Derek’s keys. Meanwhile, we see that Derek’s head was bashed in with a brick… next to a cockroach (remember that?).

Noah greets Claire with the accusation that she was with a boy. She says that she was only celebrating the fact that she made the cheerleading team with her teammates. Noah isn’t much happier, but finally relents on the condition that she not date. Claire agrees to this (snicker). Then Noah hears the familiar windchimes from last season and goes out to meet the Haitian. The Haitian tells him that he has a lead on the paintings… in the Ukraine. Now it’s Noah who has to lie to his family (get it?).

Matt is tucking Molly into bed. He insists to Suresh that she must find his dad. Molly soon overhears this and agrees to help Matt.

It’s closing time at the burger joint and Monica is ready to close when a shady character insists he come in… carrying a gun, insists. After making with the threats, she sits down and allows him to rob the place. Suddenly, she gets an almost-possessed look in her eye, and then performs the same wrestling move she saw on pay-per-view, flawlessly. Her manager rushes in and asks how she did it. She says that she just saw it on TV. Well, there’s a twist.

Molly tries to find Matt’s dad. She finds an apartment with a number 9 on it. She says he sees her and starts to freak. Matt tells her to get out fast but it’s too late. She starts screaming, then passes out. No response from Molly, except in his head… "Matt! Help me!"

"Veronica Mars" fans… Kristen Bell makes her Heroes debut next time!

We’re back in Ireland, and Peter is being bribed into helping the hoodlums on a job so that he can get the box with all of his information from them. They want Peter to distract the guards while they rob an armored car. Peter reads the mind of a guy from "Star Trek: Enterprise" (named Will here) who plans to take the money for himself.

Alejandro and Maya are still in Mexico. He tries to help by stealing a car. Needless to say, this idea doesn’t work out so well and next thing you know, they are being chased by authorities.

So the writers have made it up to the fans who didn’t buy into the "he’s not dead yet… he’s getting better!" status of D.L. at the end of last season by… killing him off? Well, at least he died taking Linderman (apparently) with him. Niki and Micah are mourning him at his grave, then she prepares him to go to New Orleans to live with relatives while she gets help for her problems.

Sylar is… wait, Sylar?… relaxing on a beach. He meets a woman lounging next to him who goes by Candice. Ah-ha. Miss Shapeshifter is back again (and it’s very easy to explain why she’s someone else as Missy Peregrym is on "Reaper" now). Candice apparently dragged Sylar’s near-lifeless body and got him eight surgeries. He doesn’t understand and she explains how this is all an illusion. He demands to know where he really is, and then screams in agony as he’s apparently in some kind of abandoned shed somewhere.

At chez Bennet, Claire’s dad apologizes for being angry at her for asking questions. He tells her that questions are alright as long as they are in their home. Claire asks what will happen if they are found out and Noah tells her that they will have to go deeper into hiding, worst case scenario.

At school, Claire calls West out on spying on her and explains away the toe mishap as a pedicure. She’s none too pleased with his behavior and leaves in a huff.

At Matt and Suresh’s apartment, Suresh enters without announcing himself and startles Matt. He tells Matt that the Company is keeping him in New York for the time being and he can watch over Molly easier that way. Matt tells him about Molly’s nightmares and so forth. Molly is woken up and runs into Suresh’s arms.

Ando is working in a lonely office, and after being yelled at by his boss, and finds the old samurai sword. On the hilt it says "Ando open." In it, he finds a message from Hiro from the past. We are brought up to the last episode, with Kensei healing. Hiro demonstrates it to Kensei, who is freaked out by it.

Peter is trying to practice his powers, but isn’t getting too far. Caitlin comforts him about this and the upcoming heist.

Alejandro has been caught and is being led to jail.

In class, West asks the teacher about lizards again (from last week) and says he thinks he met a lizard girl. Claire is really pissed now, and gets up to leave.

Hiro finds Kensei again and demonstrates his powers. Kensei starts to like the idea of powers. Hiro takes them to the setting of one of his most famous battles, the 90 Hungry Ronin. Ruh-roh. Here come 90 some-odd Ronin for Kensei. Hiro transports himself out of there.

West follows Claire and asks her what’s the deal. She finally confesses all of her fears as to how she’s a freak and if she lets people know she will be tested in a lab. West promptly orders her to shut up and flies her away with him.

The heist is on. Peter distracts the guards. All is going as planned until one of them hits an alarm. Shooting commences, but Peter floats the armored car with his mind to block the guards. Needless to say, this surprises him.

Suresh comes upon Midas man in Isaac’s old apartment, with a group of folks going through his old paintings. Suresh is told of Isaac’s death (this never came up with him before?). Midas man says that the Company is going to cater to his every need.

Hiro and the swordsmith’s daughter, Yaeko are waiting for Kensei. They are close to sharing a romantic moment when Kensei arrives, the conquering hero, and they hug.

Niki and Micah share a tearful goodbye as she drops him off at the relatives’ house in New Orleans. She wants him to not use his powers, but he is non-commital. They walk up to the front of the house and it’s Uhura herself, Nichelle Nichols at the door. I guess this show will have at least one "Star Trek" actor on at all times.

Maya shows up at the jail trying to bail out her brother. Then she confesses that she is the wanted woman on the poster with Alejandro and next thing you know, Alejandro hears her from jail, and notices his cell-mate’s eyes filled with black oil/goo. He calls out, and Maya runs to meet him, which implies that the guards are in no position to chase her. He takes the black oil/goo from her eyelids and they make their escape before the guards can catch them. They also take Alejandro’s cell-mate with them since he has a car nearby, and make a quick getaway.

Back in Ireland, as the gang celebrates their successful heist, Will makes a move towards taking the cash. Peter tries to stop him but gets shot. A moment later, Will goes flying and is being held against the wall by Peter’s mind. Then a bullet pops out of his chest. Caitlin demands that Peter let go of Will and he does.

17th century. Hiro writes his scroll and puts it in the sword’s hilt, and says his good-byes to Kensei, who doesn’t want him to leave. Hiro prepares to go and starts to do his "squinting" thing to transport, then thinks better of it and decides to stay longer.

Sylar is still stuck in that shed and his powers aren’t working for him. He tries to move a coffee mug but no go. He’s angry but Candice won’t hear any of it. She tries to seduce Sylar by taking on different forms. Sylar goes to kiss her but instead smashes her in the head with the mug. He’s starting with a clean slate, and he’s going to take her powers first. After doing the brain thing he does (still unclear on this point, but not sure if I want to know), we kinda sorta see her real form as an overweight woman, as was heavily hinted-at all last season. Sylar tries her powers, but apparently he also lost the power to take powers, at least for now. Sylar is very pissed at this, as you can imagine.

Caitlin is tattooing the family crest onto Peter’s arm. Her brother Ricky shows up and hands Peter the box with all of his information to thank him for stopping Will. Peter then discusses the implications of opening the box with Caitlin. Does he want his old life or does he want to continue this new one? The two of them cut to the chase and make out, while his tattoo turns into the Linderman/Kensei (I’ll just call it the "godsend") symbol.

Claire and West have ditched school for the beach. They debate whose power is cooler then they start with the making out themselves. But then she sees the familiar marks on his neck that Matt and others have sported after encounters with her dad. West tells her about an encounter with a bad man, who wanted to trap him like an animal… a man with horn-rimmed glasses. (Yikes.)

Midas man has another job for Suresh. Then he takes a call and Suresh calls Noah. Midas man’s call is from Niki who asks if he is sure he can cure her. Midas man reminds her that they will want something from her in return. At the same time, Suresh tells Noah that Isaac’s paintings are being moved. Suresh starts to go through them. One painting catches his eye and he sends a picture of it to Noah. Noah looks at his e-mail and sees a series of photos, the first being the one showing Kaito’s death. The last painting? It shows Noah’s apparent death by bullet wound to the eye as Claire looks on, kissing someone. He sees the real Claire and they say goodnight to each other.

The plot thickens indeed…

So Peter is now being held captive in Ireland by a bunch of hoodlums wondering why a cargo-load of iPods were replaced with a super-powered guy with a new haircut who didn’t know his own name. They’re keeping him at a pub they frequent (because those Irish love their pubs). And Peter still doesn’t know who he is, much less where the iPods went.

Mrs. Bennet drops her wedding ring in a boiling pot while cooking with Claire. Claire decides to show off and retrieve it from the boiling water. Noah reminds his daughter that they need to keep a low profile, but she’s not such a big fan of the idea, what with all the high school angst being a loner entails. After Claire goes to school, Noah learns of Kaito Nakamura’s death (Hiro’s dad) from the newspaper. He then shows his wife the first of eight old Isaac paintings. He says he only has one of these eight.

Matt has been assigned to investigate Kaito’s death. Ando is there telling them that he saw a mysterious person push Kaito over. They find Mrs. Petrelli’s fingerprints on Kaito’s photo so they plan to bring her in for questioning. Matt asks about the Linderman symbol on the photo. Ando tells him it stands for "godsend" and is Hiro’s hero Kensei’s crest.

However, good luck to these two trying to get to Hiro since he’s in the 17th century with drunken layabout Kensei. Hiro is trying the old "Princess Bride" ducking-a-head-in-water routine to snap some sense into Kensei. Nothing doing. Kensei just doesn’t want to be a great hero of legend and myth. But then, Hiro sees Kensei’s armor and the wheels start a-turnin’. Cut to Hiro riding a horse and impersonating Kensei.

At school, Claire’s teacher is talking about lizards and cellular regeneration. Claire starts asking about the possibility of humans having this capability and doesn’t go very far with that "low profile" thing her dad talked to her about.

Meanwhile, Suresh gets his first assignment from the Company guy with the Midas touch who hired him the week before. He tells him that they found someone in Haiti with similar symptoms to Suresh’s sister and Molly (who was healed by Suresh’s blood). Maybe he has the same virus. Suresh reluctantly agrees to travel there.

Maya and Alejandro are now in Guatemala, and meet up with a friend who will help them get to Mexico.

Enter love interest. Caitlin, sister of one of the Irish hoodlums, shows up to help clean up the bloodied, captive Peter. She tells him that the iPods are being used as leverage in some sort of deal. Peter is still fuzzy on everything except that he thinks he blasted her brother friends with energy beams himself. Then she notices that he’s not wounded underneath the blood.

Suresh is in Haiti and finds none other than the Haitian, of course, fighting off the virus. The Haitian has accepted his fate but Suresh tells him that his blood will cure him.

A weird psychic type lady examines Maya, and is freaked out by what she finds when she reads her palm. She tells Maya that she’s cursed.

More hoodlums, this time in 17th century Japan attacking the swordsmith’s daughter. Kensei, I mean, Hiro arrives in armor and uses his powers to save her. They ride off into the sunset… okay, mid-afternoon sun.

While Caitlin is arguing with her brother in the pub, Peter tries to get free of his ropes. He finally phases through them. So he’s got DL’s powers too, apparently. Peter climbs out of a window. Meanwhile, some even more hoodlum-ish types wander into the pub. Caitlin tries valiantly to defend herself, and just as it looks like trouble for her, Peter arrives, all blue balls of energy (er, that doesn’t look quite right on second thought). Peter saves Caitlin.

Back at school, West shows up to tell Claire to embrace her uniqueness, blah-blah-blah. Then she finds that her car has been stolen (that can happen when you don’t lock it).

In the 17th century, the swordsmith’s daughter and Kensei/Hiro stop riding to spend time under a cherry blossom tree and they are now totally smitten with each other. She wants him to remove his mask but he won’t. She goes to kiss him and he stops time, but then realizes he shouldn’t. Next thing she knows, he’s gone as the cherry blossoms float in the breeze.

The Haitian is a-okay now, and Suresh tells him that the Company wants to observe him. The Haitian won’t stand for that, and suddenly Suresh is staring at Midas Man. Ha-ha, your mind’s been wiped, Mohinder! Midas Man isn’t pleased.

Maya and Alejandro’s guide takes them to the border. They go to hide in a pipe but as some police approach, Alejandro has to separate from them. Maya freaks out about leaving her brother behind and a black substance starts leaking from her eyes. The guide is on the ground choking, and then she gets the black eye goo as well. Alejandro shows up and soon the two of them are feeling better, but the freaked-out guide runs away.

Claire shows up at Noah’s office and tells him that the car has been stolen. Noah’s not too happy. Then they change subjects to the possibility that she could regenerate, or that her blood could heal others. Noah’s not very interested in that either, and is more concerned with keeping his family safe.

Matt interrogates Mrs. Petrelli. She says that the weird symbol is from her husband’s law firm (yeah, right), and confesses that she and Kaito used to be lovers. But she feigns ignorance as to why Kaito would be killed, but as Matt finds out, her thoughts betray her. Matt asks her who is out for revenge against them and she immediately realizes what he can do, screaming in her thoughts "Get out of my head!" The lights start to go out and Matt and co. go to investigate. Then they hear Mrs. Petrelli scream. She seems to be fighting something off. When they go back in, she is alone but definitely hurt. Matt finds her picture with the Kensei/Linderman symbol.

Caitlin’s brother arrives and wants a little help on their next job… or else Peter (as the brother calls him for the first time) won’t see in the little box he found, with all of his information.

In the 17th century, Hiro tells Kensei what happened but soon after that, Kensei is attacked with a bunch of arrows to the chest. Hiro starts to mourn his Hiro, then he pulls the arrows out to notice Kensei healing! Kensei has reconsidered this "hero" business.

Suresh calls Noah with a progress report. Then Noah gets a visit from his new "employee," the Haitian.

Claire decides to experiment on her hypothesis and cuts off her own toe! Then it grows back! Grody to the max! Of course West sees this through the window too, and flies away before Claire can notice (but the dog does).
